CAIRO – 27 June 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Central Bank of Egypt announced Sunday, June 30, to be an official holiday in celebration of the anniversary of June 30 revolution.
Egypt witnessed mass protests on July 30, 2013,which marked the one-year anniversary of Mohamed Morsi's inauguration as president. The events ended with the 2013 Egyptian coup d'état after millions of protesters across Egypt took to the streets and demanded the immediate resignation of the president.
CBE clarified that some banks will also close on Monday in celebration of the end of their fiscal year.
Trading will be resumed on Tuesday, July 2.
The latest holiday for EGX and Banks was in celebration of Eid al-Fitr “Festival of Breaking Muslims’ Fast” and continued for three days.
