EGX records mixed performance during mid-week session

CAIRO - 15 January 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) showed mixed performance during mid-week session. Market capitalization gained LE 3.28 billion, amid Arab and foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX30 hiked 0.84 percent, or 111.37 points, to close at 13,447.12 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 rose 0.47 percent, or 10.21 points, to reach 2,204.57 points.

On the other hand, the small and mid-cap index EGX70 lessened 1.47 percent, or 10.09 points, reaching 675.44 points, and the broader index EGX100 inched down 1.06 percent, or 18.29 points, to close at 1,702.64 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 3.28 billion, recording LE 764.79 billion, compared to LE 761.5 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 140.92 million shares, traded through 20,489 transactions, with a turnover of LE 599.76 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 49.71 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 17.04 million and LE 32.67 million, respectively.

Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 823,160, while Egyptian and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 13.55 million, and LE 7.48 million, respectively.

Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 16.22 and LE 40.15 million, respectively, while Egyptian organizations bought LE 36.15 million.

North Africa Co. for Real Estate Investment, South Valley Cement, and Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad) were top gainers of the session by 10 percent, 7.38 percent and 7.04 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Dice Sport & Casual Wear, Misr National Steel - Ataqa, and Lecico Egypt were top losers of the session by 8.30 percent, 6.51 percent, and 5.15 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Monday’s session in red, as EGX30 declined 1.41 percent, EGX50 decreased 1.20 percent, EGX70 inched down 0.39 percent, and EGX100 went down 0.49 percent.
