CAIRO – 2 June 2017: Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr discussed with UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Richard Dictus the latest preparations for the UN strategic framework in Egypt, 2018-2022.

The meeting, attended by Country Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Randa Aboul-Hosn, tackled the UN strategic framework in line with Egypt’s development agenda as well as the Egyptian people’s demands, the Ministry said in a Friday statement.

The minister urged that the UN framework in Egypt would concentrate on the poorest and needy regions, support the small and medium enterprises and help create job opportunities for youth and women.

Partnership with the UN comes at a key time, as work is underway to implement a social reform program aimed to achieve the targets of Egypt’s sustainable development, the minister said.

The program gives top priority to eliminating poverty and promoting sustainable economic growth through providing job opportunities, improving the infrastructure and expanding in the usage of renewable energy resources, Nasr indicated.

Meanwhile, Dictus emphasized the UN’s readiness to back the Ministry of Investment in its endeavors to draw up the Investment Map.

The conferees also touched on the UNDP’s plan in Egypt within the coming period.
