KHARTOUM – 7 April 2018: The Egyptian and Sudanese leaderships are keen on carrying out the electricity interconnection project as part of the efforts to boost bilateral ties, Sudanese Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation, and Electricity Moataz Mousa said Saturday.

Speaking to MENA, Mousa said the project emerged amid Sudan’s President Omar al Bashir's talks with Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in Cairo as both leaders showed an interest in boosting the historic ties between the two neighboring countries.

After his talks with visiting Egypt’s Electricity Minister Ahmed Shaker, Mousa said he was assured that the electricity linkage project will be carried out.

He hailed the historic visit of the Egyptian minister to Khartoum, saying it was fruitful.

The electricity linkage project between Egypt and Sudan is vital to meet the growing demand on electricity in Sudan, he added.
