CAIRO – 7 February 2018: The Ministry of Planning approved LE 1.6 billion to execute troubled and urgent projects in governorates, according to an official statement.

It allocated LE 955 million for a number of urgent projects and LE 672 million for other troubled projects, including LE 377 million for hospitals in Minya, Luxor and Sharqia governorates.

The ministry also approved LE 100 million to construct and develop a number of youth centers and 62 other projects.

The Minister of Planning, Hala el-Saied said that supporting these projects offers more investments opportunities and eliminates the challenges and obstacles that these projects face.

“The elimination of the problems of these troubled projects provides billions of pounds to maximize the efficiency of investment spending,” al-Saied added.

The Prime Minister Sharif Ismail focused on reviewing the troubled projects in various sectors, according to implementation rates, to complete them as soon as possible.

In January, Minister Hala el-Saied said that the plan of fiscal 2018-2019 and the medium-term plan focuses mainly on finalizing stalled ventures.

Saied asserted that finalizing these ventures have a priority in the plan, especially if the delay is caused by financial matters, adding that it focuses on health and education ventures.

She underscored that the plan will concentrate on the governorates that show low developmental rates, especially in Upper Egypt.
