CAIRO - 9 Sep 2017: Chinese state-owned automotive group FAW will establish a new factory in Egypt to produce mini buses and trucks in cooperation with its local agent Geyushi Motors, Minister of Trade Tarek Kabil said on Saturday.

He said that the factory will be set up in the industrial area of the 10th of Ramadan city in Cairo and will start production next March. Kabil’s statements came after his meeting with Nie Cheng Bo, deputy managing director of FAW in Africa.

Nie said that the Egyptian market is one of the most prominent markets in Africa and the Middle East and that production will focus on trucks and mini buses to assemble FAW’s cars locally and export them to neighboring markets.

He added that new production lines will be added in 2018.

Mohy el-Din Geyushi, chairman of Geyushi Motors, said earlier in July that the FAW plant will benefit his company and will turn it from an agent to an automotive assembly factory.
