Wages register LE 190B in 10 months: CAPMAS

CAIRO – 30 August 2017: Wages rose to LE 190 billion ($10.7 billion) in the ten-month period from July 2016 to May 2017, representing 24 percent of the state expenses’ structure, state official statistics authority (CAPMAS) reported.

In a report released in August, wages stood at LE 184.8 billion in the same period of the fiscal year (FY) 2015/2016, accounting for 28.2 percent of the total structure of this fiscal year.

The value of subsidies, grants and benefits acquired 22.8 percent of the structure of the FY 2016/2017 with a value of LE 179.6 billion. Interests represented 35.2 percent (LE 277 billion), compared to 21.4 percent and 32.1 percent (LE 140.3 billion and LE 210 billion), respectively.

Purchases accounted for 3.8 percent of the structure of FY 2016/17 at a value LE 29.9 billion compared to 4 percent(LE 26.6 billion), the report read.

Investments (purchasing non-financial assets) acquired 7.8 percent, up from 7.3 percent in the fiscal year 2015/16. Other expenses represented 6.3 percent worth LE 49.4 billion, compared to LE 45.7 billion accounting for 7 percent during the previous years.
