CAIRO – 5 August 2017: An investment zone and an international economic center would be established west of Marsa Matrouh governorate, Minister of Investment and International cooperation Sahar Nasr said on Saturday during a field visit to the site of the project.

This comes as part of a larger project to develop the west of Egypt, as directed by President Abdel-Fatah el-Sisi.

Nasr, along with foreign and Arab investors visited Marsa Matrouh on Saturday to discuss investment opportunities in the area.

She said that studies for the project are underway, saying that the aim is to improve citizens’ standard of living and create jobs for the youth.

Besides the investment zone and economic center, other projects planned in the governorate include residential compounds, logistics zone and a commercial port.
Nasr said that the field visits to different governorates come in line with the imminent launch of the comprehensive investment map that includes all governorates and sectors.
Governor of Marsa Matrouh Alaa Abo-Zeid said that the project is promising and will be executed over three phases, with the first one to be completed in two years.
