Egypt, Italy pledge to deepen economic, strategic ties

CAIRO – 13 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and advancing the strategic partnership between Egypt and Italy during their meeting on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit.

 

The discussions focused on expanding trade, investment, and collaboration in priority sectors such as energy, agriculture, construction, and tourism.

 

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy noted that President El-Sisi praised the steady progress in Egyptian-Italian relations, emphasizing Egypt’s determination to build on recent positive momentum and enhance cooperation that supports shared development goals.

 

Both leaders discussed concrete steps to facilitate trade exchanges and encourage closer engagement between business communities in the two countries. They agreed on the importance of promoting direct partnerships and creating an investment-friendly environment across multiple sectors.

 

Prime Minister Meloni expressed her appreciation for the deepening partnership with Egypt and highlighted Italy’s commitment to strengthening economic ties, recognizing Egypt’s strategic role as a key regional hub connecting Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

 

The talks also addressed Italy’s support for Egypt within the European Union framework. Both leaders voiced optimism ahead of the upcoming Egypt–EU meeting in Brussels on October 22, 2025, which aims to enhance strategic dialogue and advance joint initiatives in sustainable development and economic integration.
