UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri recently met Japanese Ambassador to the UAE Yoshihiko Kamo at the ministry's headquarters

DUBAI - 25 July 2017: UAE Undersecretary of Foreign Trade and Industry Abdullah Al Saleh discussed on Tuesday with Chairman of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Yasushi Akahoshi ways of boosting economic and trade cooperation between UAE and Japan.

Al Saleh said that Japan-UAE cooperation relations have advanced at high levels, noting that there is a mutual ambition to cooperate in different vital fields which serve the interests of both countries.

Meantime, Akahoshi asserted the importance of economic and trade relations with UAE, saying that UAE is a strategic partner for Japan in the Middle East region.

He also added that Japan is keen on developing frameworks of cooperation with UAE and supports the mutual efforts of reinforcing Japan-UAE external trade.

Both parties reviewed a number of investment chances to open wider horizons in the economic relations in different fields between the two countries.

The volume of non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and Japan exceeded USD 14.5 bln in 2016, while the direct Japanese investment in the UAE is about USD 4 bln.
