CAIRO - 11 December 2024: Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, has arrived in Warsaw to lead the first session of the Egyptian-Polish Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation in over three decades. This meeting marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

Al-Mashat highlighted that the committee's establishment reflects the growing strategic partnership between Egypt and Europe, especially with Poland set to take over the EU presidency on January 1, 2025. The initiative follows President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s 2022 meeting with the Polish President, where an agreement was made to enhance cooperation.

The inaugural session aims to activate an updated economic cooperation agreement, replacing the one from 1964, under which 12 committee sessions were held, the last in 1993. Al-Mashat noted that the new agreement aligns with current economic needs and will foster collaboration in various areas of development and economic growth.

The Egyptian delegation, led by Al-Mashat, includes representatives from ministries such as Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Trade, and the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority. Poland's delegation, co-chaired by Minister of Economic Development and Technology Krzysztof Baszczyk, features officials from key ministries, including Climate, Environment, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs, and Infrastructure.

This meeting underscores Poland’s commitment to strengthening ties with Egypt across diverse sectors.
