CAIRO - 9 September 2024: Chairman Hani Barzi of the Food Export Council (FEC) announced a significant surge in Egypt's food industries exports by 23 percent in the initial 7 months of 2024.
The total exports of food industries from Egypt escalated to approximately $3.7 billion from January to July 2024, marking a notable increase from $3 billion in the corresponding period of 2023, reflecting a $700 million rise.
Barzi highlighted the distribution of these exports, indicating that Arab nations constituted 52 percent of the sector's exports during this period, while European Union countries accounted for 22 percent, non-Arab African countries for 7 percent, America for 5 percent, and the remaining countries for 14 percent.
Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El Khatib emphasized the pivotal role of Egypt's food industry in the national economy. El Khatib, speaking at the First Conference of Food Industries Exporters, noted that the food industry contributes approximately 14% to Egypt's total exports.
This conference aims to foster discussions on strategies to elevate export development, encompassing policies and procedures that could potentially elevate Egyptian exports' growth rate by more than 20 percent annually.
