Value of Egyptian exports to Croatia grows by 304.8% in 1 year

CAIRO – 6 February 2023: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) indicated in a report Monday that the value of Egyptian exports to Croatia spiked by 304.8 percent in the first 10 months of 2022, and that of imports rose by 19.7 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

The total value of trade between the two countries grew by 90.8 percent hitting $203.9 million. As for exports and imports, they recorded $107.8 million and $96 million, respectively.

The top Egyptian exports to Croatia are fuel and mineral oils ($57.5 million); plastics ($14.7 million); garments ($13.4 million); fertilizers ($4.2 million); vegetables and plants ($3.2 million); fruits ($2.5 million); machinery, devices, and electric equipment ($1.9 million); animal fats and plant oils ($1.7 million); aluminum products ($1.2 million); and, sugar ($1.1 million).

The top Egyptian imports from Croatia are wooden products ($88.3 million); machinery ($1.3 million); vehicles, tractors and bikes ($814,200); livestock ($771,300); pharmaceuticals ($571,400); plastics ($326,600); machinery, devices, and electric equipment ($263,600); fruits ($144,900); furniture ($138,700); and synthetic fibers ($109,500).

Croatian investments in Egypt amounted to $2.9 million in FY2020/2021, increasing by 26.1 percent in comparison to the unprecedented fiscal year. As for remittances by Egyptian expats in Croatia, they rose by 33.5 percent hitting $1.1 million. By contrast, those of Croatian expats in Egypt fell by 56.3 percent, recording $271,000.
