EGX stays in red zone for 2nd consecutive session, market cap. loses LE2.6B

CAIRO –  24 August 2022: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) continued trading in the red zone for the second session in a row during Wednesday, losing around LE 2.6 billion of the market capitalization, amid foreign selling.
 
The benchmark EGX30 dipped 0.32 percent, or 32.65 points, to end at 10,105.24 points.
 
The equally weighted index EGX 50 declined 0.42 percent, or 7.92 points, to end at 1,893.43 points.
 
Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 decreased 1.13 percent, or 24.66 points, to close at 2,163.43 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dropped 0.90 percent, or 28.3 points, at 3,102.33 points.
 
Market capitalization lost around LE 2.6 billion, recording LE 682.35 billion, compared to LE 684.97 billion in Tuesday’s session.
 
The trading volume reached 701.89 million shares, traded through 53,519 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.32 billion.
 
Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 146.03 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 236.33 million, and LE 9.69 million, respectively.
 
Egyptian and foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 41.35 million and LE 1.35 million, respectively, while Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 4.9 million.
 
Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 277.68 million, and LE 4.76 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 244.67 million.
 
Alexandria National Company for Financial Investment, Sharm Dreams Co. for Tourism Investment, and Development & Engineering Consultants were top gainers of the session at 18.05 percent, 9.38 percent and 5.56 percent, respectively.
 
Meanwhile, ODIN Investments, Egyptian Transport (EGYTRANS), and MM Group for Industry and International Trade were top losers of the session by 9.49 percent, 8.27 percent, and 6.13 percent, respectively.
 
On Tuesday, the EGX ended the session in the red zone, as EGX30 dipped 1.06 percent, EGX 50 declined 0.64 percent, EGX 70 decreased 0.26 percent, and EGX 100 dropped 0.56 percent.
