CAIRO – 25 July 2022: Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, revealed that the expansions that took place in the national electricity network had a significant impact on the quality of service provided to the Egyptian citizens.

Minister Shaker ensured that any interruptions to the network resulted from an emergency technical issue, and have become limited thanks to the development that took place in the networks of transmission, production and distribution of electricity.

Shaker added that the national electricity network is in good condition and was not affected by high temperatures recorded in the country over the past weeks, as he denied any possible resorting to reduce loads, like the situation before the year 2015.

He continued, “Egypt’s national electricity network has a daily reserve of 17,000 megawatts, which represents nearly half of the citizens' needs.”

The minister pointed out that there are a number of reasons that led to the success of the electricity sector in meeting the needs of citizens with high quality, the most important of which is the support of the political leadership of the electricity sector and considering it a national security.

He further added that the second reason is the implementing of the maintenance program, noting that any power outage occured only as a result of technical malfunctions, as he reiterated his statements that there is no intention to reduce the loads.

Shaker said that the quality of the electricity production and transmission networks has become of a high quality by 100 percent throughout the Republic, stressing that the development that took place in the production and transmission networks is equivalent to double the networks that existed during the past 60 years.

Minister Mohamed Shaker explained that the ministry aims to provide the service that reaches all citizens in all parts of the country with the highest quality and distinguished service, stressing that the ministry pays great attention to developing electricity distribution networks in Upper Egypt and Sinai governorates in particular.

Shaker added that the expansions that took place in the network eliminated a large part of the problems of outages in villages and hamlets as a result of linking their loads to other villages, explaining that the electrical supply for each load will be separate from the other.
