FAYYOUM, Egypt - 24 May 2022: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has said that the number of the cell towers installed nationwide increased by 73 percent in 2020/2021 and is expected to double in 2022.
 
Talaat made the remarks during a press conference held on Tuesday in Fayyoum governorate in the presence of Fayyoum Governor Ahmed el Ansary on the fringe of the minister's tour of a number of development and post projects being implemented in the governorate.
 
Upgrading the internet and mobile networks in the country is prioritized as part of Decent Life project, he said, adding that 500 towers are sought to be set up in the villages covered under the first phase of the project.
 
Developing post offices nationwide also represents a priority under Decent Life project with an aim to provide proper services to the citizens, according to Talaat.
 
Talaat noted that there are 109 post offices in Fayyoum governorate in addition to the mobile post offices and work is underway to develop them.
 
Talaat said his ministry seeks to build digital Egypt with an interactive, safe and productive society.
 
Discussions between Talaat and Ansary touched on the communications ministry’s efforts to implement digital Egypt project and the structural development plan which is aimed to prepare employees and citizens in the governorate for digitization.
