CAIRO - 3 April 2022: Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gameaa said the political leadership pays great attention to commercial representation for its key role in fostering economic and trade relations with world countries and international economic blocs.

She made the remarks on Sunday during her participation in a swearing-in ceremony for a new batch comprising nine commercial attaches to the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS), in the presence of Minister Plenipotentiary of Commerce Yahya Al-Wathiq Billah.

Gameaa added that her ministry is currently working on a plan to maximize the benefit from commercial representation offices abroad to open up new markets to Egyptian products and lure further foreign investments into the country.

She also shed light on the ECS's pivotal role in maintaining Egypt's interests with various countries, particularly in light of the current global economic challenges.

On his part, Minister Plenipotentiary of Commerce and ESC Head Yahya Al-Wathiq Billah said the new trade attaches were picked in accordance with efficiency standards, noting that they are expected to contribute to developing the Egyptian commercial diplomacy and fostering joint relations with different world countries.

He added the ECS is keen on bringing in new blood to upgrade the performance of commercial representation offices abroad, besides giving more space to women to achieve gender equality.
