Italy is ranked 15th among the key EU countries receiving Egyptian food exports during this period, with products valued at $78 million, representing a 23 percent increase compared with the same corresponded period of 2020, the council said in a statement.

FEC Deputy Executive Director Tameem El-Dawy met with the Italian partners engaged in the implementation of the RORO maritime terminal on the fringe of TransMEA 2021 fair currently held at Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo to review the logistical capabilities, absorptive capacities and complementary services of the navigation line that will help in the transportation of frozen and perishable food items to Europe, the council added.

The Italian partners said the terminal will be ready for operation in Egypt in early April.

The Italian side requested signing a memorandum of understanding with the council to offer special prices for the member companies.
