Egypt's engineering industries exports record $2.2B during 9 months

CAIRO – 27 October 2021: The Egyptian Export Council for Engineering Industries announced that the sector's exports increased by 43 percent during the period from January 2021 until the end of September, reaching $2.284 billion, compared to $1.595 billion during the same period in 2020.

 

The monthly report of the Export Council for Engineering Industries revealed that exports for the month of September 2021 increased by 35 percent to reach $320.6 million, compared to $237.8 million in September 2020.

 

The Council pointed out the most important sectors whose exports increased during 2021 until the end of September, compared to the same period in 2020 are, electrical appliances increased by 20 percent, automobile components increased by 54 percent, cables recorded a 100 percent increase, household appliances increased by 59 percent, and finally industries Electrical and electronics rose 47 percent.

 

As for the most important countries to which engineering exports have increased, they are in Europe (the United Kingdom - Turkey - Slovakia - France - Germany - Spain - Greece", and in Asia "the UAE - Saudi Arabia - Iraq - Jordan - Kuwait - Lebanon - China", and in Africa "Morocco - Libya - Sudan - Kenya - Nigeria - Tunisia.

 

Mai Helmy, Executive Director of the Export Council for Engineering Industries, attributed the increase of engineering exports to the continued good performance of the productive sectors in Egypt, in addition to the continuing crisis of shipping from China, which gave Egyptian products a competitive advantage especially for Arab markets and some African and European markets.

 

She pointed out that the council continues its activities in support of engineering exports, whether through direct exhibitions or through promotional missions abroad and the recruitment of buyers' missions.

 

She pointed out the need for joint work between the government and exporting factories in order to achieve the strategy of promoting national exports during the past years, to solve any obstacles facing local production, and to activate all laws and legislation that would increase the competitiveness of the local industry and increase its popularity in international markets.
