CAIRO - 21 October 2021: Egyptian Minister of Transport,  Kamal Al-Wazir met with his Qatari counterpart Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti to discuss cooperation in various fields of the transport sector, said the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in a statement on Wednesday.
 
The Qatari Minister highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two sides in various fields of transport, including the maritime transport sector. He added that the Qatari government is keen on developing seaports like Hamad Port in accordance with the latest international standards.
 
Minister Wazir discussed the great renaissance that is being achieved in Egypt in various fields, during President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s leadership. He added that Egypt welcomes cooperation between the two sides in the field of maritime transport, especially amid transforming Egypt into a center for global trade and logistics.
 
Egyptian Ain Sokhna maritime is being developed in accordance with the international standards to be the largest hub port in the Red Sea serving the trade movement between South and East Asia, South and West Europe and North Africa, Wazir continued.
 
In June 2021, Egypt and Qatar have agreed on settling all outstanding issues between the two countries during the coming stage, following the signing of "Al-Ula Declaration" on January 5, 2021, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez said in a statement. 
 
This comes during a meeting held between Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Doha on Monday. The meeting was followed by a session of official consultations in the presence of both delegations.
