CAIRO – 19 October 2021: Trade exchange between Egypt and Greece jumped by 112.8 percent during the first half of 2021, recording $1 billion, compared to $477.6 million during the same period in 2020.

 

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) indicated, Tuesday, that the Egyptian exports to Greece amounted to $807.4 million during the first half of 2021, compared to $273.8 million, marking an increase of 194.9 percent, while the Egyptian imports from Greece hiked 2.6 percent to reach $209.1 million, up from $203.8 million.

 

Remittances from Egyptians working in Greece reached $8.4 million during the fiscal year 2018-2019, compared to $7.1 million during the year 2017-2018, with an increase of 18.7 percent, while the remittances from Greeks working in Egypt amounted to $2.2 million, up from $1.8 million, with a growth of 23.4 percent.

 

CAPMAS noted that the population of Egypt recorded 102.5 million people in 2021, while the population of Greece recorded 10.4 million people in 2021.

 

The number of Egyptians in Greece, according to the mission's estimates, reached 30,000 Egyptians until the end of 2020.
