How Huawei’s AppGallery and talabat have joined forces to enhance user’s experience and unlock business opportunities

Since its launch in 2018, AppGallery, Huawei's official app distribution platform, has reached several milestones in its ongoing development. With the vision to create an open and innovative app distribution platform accessible to consumers while strictly protecting users' privacy and security, the platform has grown its global audience; it counts more than 550 Million Active Users across 170 countries today. With more than 4 Million developers globally, we have seen a tremendous increase in registered developers, demonstrating AppGallery’s growing impact on developers and mobile users in the world.
 
Several leading entities have joined Huawei's ecosystem in the Middle East and Africa and integrated their mobile apps on the AppGallery, benefiting from Huawei's unwavering support to developers across all areas– from cutting-edge technologies to marketing and app expansion into China and overseas markets.
talabat, one of the leading food delivery and q-commerce platforms in the MENA region, has collaborated with Huawei throughout several successful initiatives, positioning the brand as a technology leader within its industry and leading to great business results and enhanced user’s experience.
 
“We have worked closely with Huawei across all our nine markets and launched significant co-branded campaigns in the MENA region, which have been tremendously successful," said Onur Elgun, Vice President of Strategy MENA at talabat.
 
One of the biggest success stories born of the partnership is the re-branding campaign from Otlob to talabat in Egypt. Both teams have worked together to create a co-branded campaign through a wide range of promotional activities to benefit Huawei smartphone end-users and generate awareness of the re-branded talabat app in Egypt. The success of this campaign was incredible, as it reached 94% of the target audience with an increase of 240% in downloads.
 
“However, our partnership is about much more than campaigns. It is about working together to really change how our customers experience the talabat app on their Huawei devices. These include small tweaks, such as news feed integration, allowing users instant access to the talabat app with a simple swipe. We have seen a significant increase in engagement of 144% through this integration, which has definitely been a game-changer”, added Onur Elgun.
 
talabat has also collaborated successfully with Huawei from a technology perspective. The delivery app was one of the first partners in the region to run its app on the newly launched Super Device range. talabat app is now available on the flagship HUAWEI WATCH 3 | 3 Pro smartwatch, allowing users to track and get notifications on their order status directly from their wrist!
 
Not content with running the talabat app on Huawei phones and smartwatches only, Elgun points out future projects on the pipeline, including many integrations enabled by the AppGallery and Super Device range: “This will include making the talabat app available on Huawei’s Petal Search and Petal Maps, plus the Super Device range such as the next-generation TV, the HUAWEI Vision S, and the new 12.6-inch HUAWEI MatePad Pro tablet set to be launched soon in the MENA market.”
