Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended the signing ceremony of designing and implementing the first line of Egypt's electric express train (Ain Sukhna-Alexandria-Alamin-Matrouh).

CAIRO - 1 September 2020: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended on Wednesday the signing ceremony of designing and implementing the first line of Egypt's electric express train (Ain Sukhna-Alexandria-Alamin-Matrouh).

The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Transport Kamel Al Wazir and German Ambassador in Cairo Frank Hartmann.

Madbloui asserted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's interest in the project which is considered a civilized leap in the field of Egypt's transportation.
 
The contract stipulates that the 660KMs-long line be designed and implemented with conducting maintenance operations for 15 years at costs of $4.45 billion at EPC+F system represented in the National Authority for Tunnels and an Egyptian-German consortium under Siemens, the Arab Contractors company and Orascom.


He also asserted that the new train would contribute to the aspired development process, thanking Siemens international company over its efforts to implement the project, described Siemens as "a success partner" for Egyptians in different sectors.

Minister Wazir said the consortium would carry out all the project systems including signals, communications and electro-mechanics and will also design carriages and and maintenance workshops.

For his part, Roland Busch, president and CEO of Siemens AG., said: “Siemens Transportation Systems is proud to support the ambitions and efforts of the Egyptian government to develop the country's transportation sector, by establishing the first electric high-speed rail system in Egypt.
 
He stressed that this strategic project will create many job opportunities, support economic growth, and improve the quality of life for millions of Egyptians, by providing an efficient, safe and advanced transportation system.
 
He added, "As one of the success partners of Egypt for decades, Siemens is committed to providing the latest smart technology solutions and continuous support to build and refine local skills and cadres within the framework of this project."
