CAIRO – 24 June 2021: The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy begins applying the prices of electricity segments for the fiscal year 2021/2022, on Thursday, July 1, which was announced during the press conference announcing the state’s plan to raise subsidies until 2025 last July.

 

This comes within the framework of the state’s plan to liberalize the electricity market with the aim of lower production costs in the future.

 

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker confirmed that the tranche prices will be applied for the new fiscal year, starting from Thursday, July 1, which was announced during the press conference announcing the state’s plan to raise subsidies until 2025 last July, stressing that the ministry is committed to implementing the state’s plan to raise subsidies gradually, to end in July 2025.

 

Shaker added, in exclusive statements to "Egypt Today", that the citizen knows the prices of electricity segments for the new and upcoming fiscal year, and until the end of the plan to raise subsidies in July 2025, saying that the prices of electricity tranches were announced last July, until the end of the period of final lifting of subsidies in July 2025.

 

Shaker continued that whoever determines the value of the electricity bill is the subscriber himself through the nature of electricity consumption and the extent of his awareness of sound rationalization methods that do not affect the nature of his consumption but improve energy use, stressing that the neediest groups, which represent the first two segments from zero to 50 to 100 kilowatts/hour that will continue to receive material support from the state even after the end of the plan to lift the support in 2025.
