EGX ends Tuesday on mixed note, market cap. loses LE1.9B

CAIRO - 1 June 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended mid-week session on mixed note, losing around LE 1.9 billion of market capitalization, amid foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX30 declined 0.67 percent, or 68.85 points, to end at 10,240.21 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 decreased 0.31 percent, or 6.74 points, to end at 2,185.77 points.

On the other hand, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 rose 0.74 percent, or 16.91 points, to close at 2,295.24 points, and the broader index EGX 100 jumped 0.28 percent, or 9.03 points, to close at 3,224.87 points.

Market capitalization lost around LE 1.9 billion, recording LE 653.85 billion, compared to LE 655.83 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 688.73 million shares, traded through 53,839 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.53 billion.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 30.47 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 20.26 million, and LE 10.21 million, respectively.

Egyptian, and  foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 38.35 million, and LE 1.98 million, respectively, while Arab investors were net buyers LE 12.87 million.

Arab, and foreign organizations sold at LE 2.65 million, and LE 28.49 million, respectively, while Egyptian organizations bought at LE 58.61 million.

Sharm Dreams Co. for Tourism Investment, Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad)      , and Alexandria Flour Mills were top gainers of the session at 14.25 percent, 9.74 percent and 7.69 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Marsa Marsa Alam for Tourism Development, Juhayna Food Industries, and Ibnsina Pharma were top losers of the session by 9.88 percent, 7.94 percent, and 6.30 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Monday on mixed note, as: EGX30 inched up 0.07 percent, EGX 70 rose 0.51 percent, and EGX 100 jumped 0.50 percent, while EGX 50 decreased 3.26 percent.
