Egypt’s petroleum exports record $1.8 in Q1 2021

CAIRO – 31 May 2021: Egypt’s exports of petroleum products hiked 33.8 percent during the first quarter of 2021, amounting to $1.819 billion, compared to $1.359 billion during the same quarter of 2020, according to the Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

 

CAPMAS stated in a statement, Monday, that the most important petroleum products whose exports value increased, was crude oil, reaching $399 million, compared to $325 million in 2020, followed by natural gas, with $564 million, compared to $136 million in 2020, and fuel oil (mazut), with exports amounted to $ 522 million, compared to $ 209 million in 2020.

 

It pointed out that the most important countries to which oil exports rose were Malta, which amounted to $421 million, compared to $177 million in 2020, followed by India with $272 million, compared to $143 million in 2020.

 

The agency continued, Greece recorded $226 million, compared to $81 million, followed by China, which amounted to $201 million, compared to $126 million in 2020, followed by Italy, which amounted to $105 million, compared to $63 million in 2020.

 

With regard to imports, the total value of petroleum products imports amounted to $1.879 billion during the first quarter of 2021, compared to $2.121 billion during the same quarter of 2020, with a decrease of 11.4 percent.

 

It stated that the most important petroleum products during the first quarter of 2021, whose imports decreased, were crude oil, which amounted to $643 million, compared to $1320 million in 2020.

 

CAPMAS added that among the most important countries where oil imports declined, include: Saudi Arabia reached $720 million, down from $846 million, followed by Kuwait, which amounted to $290 million, compared to $611 million, followed by Algeria, which amounted to $12 million, compared to $101 million.

 

It stated that imports from Iraq amounted to $2 million dollars, compared to $122 million, followed by the United States of America, which amounted to $ 82 million, compared to $95 million.
