EGX loses LE7.6B of market cap. despite trading in green zone

CAIRO – 18 April 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday’s session in green, despite losing around LE 7.6 billion of market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign purchases.

 

The benchmark EGX30 rose 2.12 percent, or 215.05 points, to end at 10,358.26 points.

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 hiked 2.02 percent, or 38.34 points, to end at 1,938.28 points.

 

Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 increased 2.44 percent, or 44.46 points, to close at 1,865.45 points, and the broader index EGX 100 jumped 2.09 percent, or 56.7 points, to close at 2,772.73 points.

 

Market capitalization lost around LE 7.63 billion, recording LE 623.25 billion, compared to LE 630.87 billion in Thursday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 253.54 million shares, traded through 21,592 transactions, with a turnover of LE 460.26 million.

 

Egyptian investors were net sellers at LE 33.94 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers at LE 24.76 million, and LE 9.17 million, respectively.

 

Egyptian and foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 8.57 million, and LE 3.17 million, respectively, while Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 32,444.

 

Arab, and foreign organizations bought at LE 24.73 million, and LE 12.34 million, respectively, while Egyptian organizations sold at LE 25.36 million.

 

Medical Packaging Company, Ismailia Development and Real Estate Co, and Nasr Company for Civil Works were top gainers of the session at 8.62 percent, 7.60 percent and 7.29 percent, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, El Obour Real Estate Investment, El Arabia for Land Reclamation, and Arab Aluminum were top losers of the session by 9.99 percent, 8.73 percent, and 8.64 percent, respectively.

 

On Thursday, EGX ended trading in red, as: EGX30 rose 0.27 percent, while EGX 50 dipped 0.59 percent, EGX 70 decreased 0.68 percent, and the broader index EGX 100 lessened 0.64 percent.
