CAIRO – 13 August 2020: Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry was briefed - in a Wednesday phone call - from his Iraqi counterpart Fouad Hussein about details of the recent Turkish attach that targeted an Iraqi border guard vehicle in northern Iraq, killing a number of guard members.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Hafez, stated that, on his part, Minister Shoukry affirmed Egypt's full support for sisterly Iraq, and its constant backing to all measures aimed at preserving its security, in addition to its condemnation of any Turkish practices that undermine Iraq’s sovereignty and assault its territories.
Moreover, the two ministers agreed to continue their coordination and consultation in order to address ongoing challenges.
