CAIRO – 22 May 2020: As Islamic Eid Al-Fitr (feast of breaking the fast) is set to start on Saturday evening, according to the Islamic calendar, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made phone calls with many Arab leaders on this occasion.

Eid Al-Fitr is an Islamic feast where Muslims usually gather to celebrate and mark the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. However, this year, all celebrations are expected to be limited due to the global coronavirus crisis.

Sisi has extended Eid greetings with Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the head of Sudan's sovereign council; Mahmoud Abbas, Palestine’s president; Kais Saied, Tunisia’s President; Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the president of Algeria; Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber, Kuwait’s Emir; and Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

In a phone call with Burhan, Sisi also discussed regional issues and bilateral cooperation and consultation between Egypt and Sudan, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.

Sisi on Friday also received a phone call from his Iraqi counterpart, Barham Salih, to exchnage the Eid greetings. Salih wished the Egyptian government and people progress and prosperity.

The presidents also discussed bilateral relations between Egypt and Iraq, where they have agreed to activate the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation and boost the efforts of their joint committee, especially in the economic, medical and security fields.

Sisi also spoke with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and wished the Jordanian government and people prosperity and all the best.
