WASHINGTON - 31 October 2019: US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East said Washington’s peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians would be unveiled at a later time given the delay in the Israeli government’s coalition formation process, according to Al Arabiya news channel.

“The Israeli government coalition formation process in Israel is winding through a very long road. We don’t think it’s wise to unveil the peace plan now, but our hope is that at the right time and when conditions are right to unveil it, the White House will unveil it. Sadly, I won’t be here for that, but I do hope to support the effort from the outside,” Jason Greenblatt told Al Arabiya in one of his final interviews as US envoy to the Middle East.

Greenblatt and White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, as well as the US Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, have led the effort to develop a peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians and have spent the entire Trump presidency working on the project.

The US envoy told Al Arabiya that he was resigning for personal reasons as he was eager to return to his private life.
