CAIRO, Oct 8 (MENA) - Arab Parliament Speaker Mishaal bin Fahm Al Salami said the parliament has endorsed the first Arab document on women's rights.

The document is the first legislation attesting to Arab women's role and their sublime position, he said on Tuesday during a ceremony marking the document's endorsement in the UAE.

The ceremony was held in the UAE in appreciation of the progress realized in the UAE with regard to empowering women, Salami said, citing the orders by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa ben Zayed Al Nahayan to increase women's representation at the parliament.

The document is meant to promote the Arab women's positive role in society and achievements, he said, reiterating support for Arab women's issues.
