Tunisia's parliamentary elections start

TUNIS, Oct 6 (MENA) - Tunisians began casting their votes in parliamentary elections, the second of its kind since the endorsement of the 2014 Constitution and and the third since the 2011 uprising that toppled long-time ruler Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

Voters queued outside polling stations in the capital Tunis. Some 7.6 million voters are eligible to cast their votes in the country.

More than 15,000 candidates on 1,507 lists are contesting 217 seats.

The winning political party will be responsible for forming the new government in a period not exceeding two months.

Preliminary results will be declared on October 10 while final results will emerge on November 13.
