TUNIS - 3 October 2019: Campaigns for the Tunisian Presidential run-off started on Thursday.

Populist candidate and academic Kaïs Saïed and businessman Nabil Karoui are vying in the second round of elections slated for October 13.

Saïed won 18.4 percent of votes in the first round of the elections, while Karoui copped 15.6 percent.

The presidential elections are held on the back of the death of Mohamed Beji Caid Essebsi in July aged 92.

Essebsi was Tunisia’s first democratically-elected president after the 2011 revolution unseated Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and sparked the Arab Spring.
