CAIRO – 27 August 2019: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Japanese counterpart Tarō Kōno headed the ministerial preparatory meeting of Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Yokohama on Tuesday to review the draft documents and action plans to be issued by the 7th summit.

They will also approve the agenda of the summit titled "advancing Africa's development through people, technology and innovation.”

TICAD is of great importance to Africa because it is a platform to mobilize resources to develop the continent, a value that doubled after the launch of the executive phase of the African Continental Free Trade Area during the Extraordinary African Union Summit in July in Niger, Shoukry said.

Sisi, incumbent president of the African Union, arrived in the Japanese city of Yokohama Tuesday to participate in the summit.
