CAIRO, Aug 5 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi enacted Tuesday Law no. 143 of 2019 on amending some provisions of private and non-profit universities Law no. 12 of 2019.

The amendments stipulate the inception of a council for private and non-profit universities by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Minister of Higher education will chair the council whose membership will comprise presidents of the private and non-profit universities, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Universities alongside advisers to higher education minister.

Under the amendments, four heads of private and non-profit universities board of trustees, five public figures selected by the higher education minister, three presidents of state-owned universities nominated by the Supreme Council of Universities will also be members of the newly-introduced council.

The membership, which extends for a year, can be renewed only once.

The law was published in the gazette.
