TRIPOLI - 6 July 2019: Libyan National Army (LNA) Commander Khalifa Haftar said that the army aims to regain control over Tripoli, not to sell oil.

Haftar was quoted by Sky News channel as saying that the main goal of Tripoli operation is to liberate the capital from the militias, adding that the army can not be an oil trader and is not seeking to sell oil neither legally nor illegally.

Haftar confirmed that selling crude is a competence of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), noting that the army is responsible for securing the oil facilities in Libya.

He said that the army is also seeking to prevent the armed militias from benefiting from oil profits.
