CAIRO – 2 July 2019: Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation left Cairo after concluding his one day visit, during which he delivered a message from the Moroccan King to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Moroccan counterpart on Monday, where he received the message sent by King Mohammed VI of Morocco to President Sisi on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two states.

During the meeting between the two ministers, they discussed progress in a number of areas of bilateral cooperation, affirming the importance of intensifying work towards exploring new horizons for joint cooperation in various fields, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

The discussions also touched on the developments of regional issues of common concern. The two ministers stressed in this regard the importance of strengthening mechanisms of solidarity and joint Arab action in facing the various challenges in the region and pushing for political solutions that will achieve security and stability and preserve the unity and sovereignty of the Arab states.

The meeting included an exchange of views on the most important developments in Africa. Bourita stressed his country's keenness to coordinate with Egypt in the light of its chairmanship of the African Union for the current year. The two ministers agreed to continue consultations on various regional and international issues during the coming period, Hafez said.

Shoukry and Bourita also met in January this year in Cairo. Shoukry said that they reviewed cooperation mechanisms both countries want to implement as well as the legal framework governing Egyptian-Moroccan ties.

The minister stated that the stances of Egypt and Morocco on regional affairs and the Palestinian Cause are identical saying that both are members of the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM).

Shoukry asserted that king of Morocco has an important role in sponsoring the Jerusalem Committee. He added that they discussed the issues of Libya, Syria, and Yemen.
