FILE - 2nd meeting of Permanent Technical Authority for Nile Water wraps up
CAIRO, 31 Dec 2018: The second meeting of the 58th session of the Permanent Technical Authority for Nile Water concluded here on Monday.
The event saw the participation of Egyptian and Sudanese irrigation ministers to emphasize the key role played by the authority in addressing technical issues of Nile Water and discuss means of fostering bilateral cooperation in facing obstacles to the management of Nile River water, said a statement by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
The talks, which ran from Dec. 24 to 30, came within the framework of periodic meetings held by the authority in Khartoum and Cairo.
The meeting's agenda covered several topics in the field of water resources, including conservation and anti-pollution efforts, programs to reduce the amounts of wasted water of the Nile River and the management of reservoirs inside Sudan, as well as technical cooperation projects among the Nile basin countries.
