CAIRO - 18 December 2018: The Arab League (AL) Council on Tuesday convened an emergency session at the level of permanent delegates under the chairmanship of Sudan to discuss the recent Israeli escalations against Palestinian people and leadership.

The meeting was called for upon a request from Palestine in view of the serious escalations in the occupied West Bank.

The meeting is set to probe also Brazilian President's anticipated recognition of Jerusalem as a capital of Israel in addition to a similar stance adopted by Australia.

In statements before the meeting, Acting Palestinian Ambassador to the Arab League Mohannad al Alouk said Palestine is seeking to coordinate stances with Arab countries to take a decision to hinder the serious turn in the Brazilian stance regarding the Palestinian issue as well as renewing the call for providing international protection to Palestinian civilians.

He made it clear that the Arab League Council would also address the crimes committed by Israeli settlers against Palestinian people and their property in the West Bank.
