CAIRO – 16 December 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi visited the Cairo-based Egyptian Military Academy on Sunday morning. The Egyptian president visited the academy numerous times during his two terms as president.

Sisi was accompanied by Mohamed Zaki, who has served as the country's defense minister since June 2018.

Sisi said he was keen to visit the academy at the beginning of the new military student's time inside the academy to affirm that the Military Academy and other military institutions are preparing those men who would sacrifice "their souls and blood" for the country.

Sisi said that there is a science that has tools to destroy states, adding that the people responsible for the Egyptian state have to know very well about the different forms of disputes and wars.

"We said before that the military colleges should study very well with programs and practical examples [the science of] how to demolish states," Sisi stated, adding that "we, as the [entity] responsible for national security and for protecting our nation, need to learn this well."

During his speech, Sisi also welcomed and congratulated the new students of the Military Academy, urging them to endure and to have a strong will, saying that their new "different life" requires much commitment and discipline.

"This time I insist that all the skills we are targeting in all levels are achieved before this period [students time in the academy] is over," Sisi stated, stressing that this period is a test for every student to see whether he is ready to bear "this cruel life" or not.
