CAIRO – 4 November 2018: A delegation from the Egyptian Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee will head to the United Kingdom in the second week of November, Dalia Youssef, member of the committee stated on Nov. 3.

“The delegation is scheduled to hold meetings in London with the British Parliament,” Youssef said, pointing out that "Non-governmental communication between countries has to be expanded in all sectors, leading to more understanding of the common issues and challenges”.

During the visit, the parliamentarians will also hold meetings with universities students, researchers, and thinkers to exchange experiences in the health and education sectors.

The Egyptian-British Parliamentary Friendship Association headed by Youssef met on Thursday, Nov. 1 the British Ambassador to Egypt, Geoffrey Adams, in the Parliament's headquarters. This was the first meeting between the Egyptian parliamentarians and Adams since assuming his post in September 2018.

Adams previously served as ambassador to The Hague and Tehran; was part of the diplomatic missions to Paris, Jerusalem, Cape Town and Jeddah; and assumed several positions at the Foreign Office. He was also the deputy head of the mission in Cairo in 1998-2001.

On Nov. 2, Adams tweeted to offer his condolences to Egyptians for the attack that resulted in the death of at least seven Copts.

"I offer my deepest condolences to all Egyptians as we mourn together the loss of innocent lives today. Britain stands with Egypt against terrorism," the ambassador said.

At least seven people were killed and seven others were injured, according to an anonymous security source, after an attack was carried out on a bus carrying Copts near the Monastery of Saint Samuel in Upper Egypt's Minya.
