CAIRO – 24 September 2018: Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi met on Sunday in New York City United Arab Emirates’ Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss bilateral relations and current challenges in the Middle East.

The meeting tackled some of the regional topics expected to be discussed at the meetings of the current United Nations General Assembly in the United States. The meeting included Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel.

Abdel Fatah al Sisi said that the unprecedented developments in the Arab world require a joint Arab action to face the interference attempts into the internal affairs of the Arab States. The President praised the strategic ties between Egypt and UAE, stressing the importance of developing the existing relations to include several domains.

For his part, the UAE top diplomat lauded his country's ties with Egypt, asserting the importance of enhancing cooperation in a way serving the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Abu Dhabi is eager to continue intensive consultation and coordination with Cairo to cope with all challenges and dangers faced by the region, topped by terrorism, the UAE minister asserted during the meeting.

Zayed said after the meeting that the Egyptian, Emirati and Saudi Arabian efforts are capable to protect the region from the Iranian attempts to sabotage the states’ stability. UAE foreign minister added that the meeting discussed the means of enhancing cooperation between the three states to face terrorism.
