Parliament speaker refers to specialized committees presidential decrees, bills

CAIRO - 15 July 2018: Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal referred on Sunday several presidential decrees and bills tendered by the government and lawmakers to specialized committees for review.

Abdel Aal referred to the constitutional and legislative committee three presidential decrees, including a decree approving a 60-million-Kuwaiti-dinar loan agreement between Egypt and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development on financing a project for developing electric transmission networks.

The constitutional and legislative committee will also review a presidential decree approving a 53.200-million-dollar loan agreement between Egypt and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) for implementing the second stage of renovating pumping stations of sanitation and irrigation.

The committee will also examine a presidential decree on letters exchanged between Egypt and the Spanish Cooperation Agency for International Development (AECID) on a 150,000-euro grant for implementing the third stage of the National Center for Judicial Studies.

Abdel Aal referred a bill tendered by the government on establishing Egypt fund to a joint committee - comprising representatives from the planning and budget committee and the economic affairs committee.

Abdel Aal referred a bill presented by the government on amending some provisions of the Police Authority law to a joint committee, comprising members of the defense and national security committee and the constitutional and legislative committee.

Abdel Aal also referred a draft law presented by the government on establishing technological universities to a joint committee, including members from the educational and scientific research committee and the communications and IT committee.

The parliament speaker referred a bill presented by over a tithe of lawmakers on amending some provisions of the labor law to a joint committee, comprising members of the manpower committee and the constitutional and legislative committee.

Also, over one tenth of lawmakers presented bills on amending the natural gas law and establishing a national council for elderly people. The bills were referred to the House's specialized committees to be reviewed.
