CAIRO – 30 June 2018: As millions of protesters across Egypt took to the streets and demanded to oust the Muslim Brotherhood regime, the date June 30, 2013 was engraved into Egypt’s history as the date that Egypt freed itself from the shackles of the outlawed terrorist organization that sought to destabilize the country while pushing it to the brinks of failure.

And still, five years after the revolution, the Egyptian army that once protected the country from the dark ambitions of the Muslim Brotherhood and supported the will of millions of Egyptians, is still fulfilling its vow towards Egypt’s soil.

“Historians and analysts will study and analyze the June 30 revolution for a long time to come,” President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said during 4th anniversary of the June 30 revolution.

“June 30 is an unprecedented model of popular revolutions and will remain always an inspiration for the future generations of our sons and daughters.”

Some of the reasons behind ousting the Muslim Brotherhood regime include accusation of increased authoritarianism and the clear pushing through an Islamist agenda disregarding the country’s laws and constitution.

It was the largest demonstration since the 2011 uprising that overthrew Mohamed Morsi’s predecessor, Hosni Mubarak; it concluded seven months of protests that started when the Morsi government issued a highly controversial draft constitution that gave him sweeping unlimited powers over the state's judicial system.
