He thanked all Egyptians for enduring the “difficult economic procedures taken by the government during the past period. “All the Egyptians deserve to be thanked for what they did.”

Sisi also announced that he will meet with Egyptian martyrs’ families in the first day of Eid al-Fitr to celebrate with them. He affirmed that everyone is invited to share the joy of Eid celebration with them.

“We won’t be able to make them up, or give them back their families; however we are trying to tell them that we will always be close to them.” Sisi said.

On the other hand, the president affirmed that he had no hand in blocking any TV series during Ramdan.

“The media should not relate my name with every decision. We are a country of specified bodies and organizations. Mentioning me all the time has a negative indication,” Sisi added

He also talked about the previous presidential election that that took place between March 26 and 28, saying that Egyptian’s participation came as a strong message to everyone inside and outside the country.

“You might say that I’m biased for women, but their presence was the most noticeable among all,” Sisi said during Iftar.

On Saturday July 3, the parliament witnessed the swearing in ceremonies for Sisi’s second term in presidency. According to the 2014 Constitution, the newly elected president must take the oath before a special session of Parliament before his presidential term officially starts.

The event was the first of its kind in the Egyptian Parliament since former President Hosni Mubarak took the oath in 2005. Sisi’s first oath was performed at the Constitutional Court in 2014.

Sisi garnered 97.08 percent of valid votes in the 2018 presidential election, where more than 21.8 million people voted for him. His hardly-known competitor, Al-Ghad Party chairperson Moussa Moustafa Moussa, received 656,534 votes, making up 2.9 percent of the valid ballots.
