CAIRO - 26 May 2018: The Egyptian Parliament has approved a number of legislations during the current legislative period, the most important of which pertain to the unified places of worship law and the health insurance law. The following are the most important laws passed by the Parliament in the current legislative period:

1. The New Health Insurance Law, which consists of 67 articles, was approved in Dec. 18, 2017. Under this law, the government is to fully cover the treatment of citizens who cannot afford it and will improve the quality of medical services in public hospitals by inspecting and supervising medical facilities. The law will be implemented in the duration of 15 years to include all Egyptian governorates.

2. The National Electoral Commission (NEC) Law was approved in July 2017. The law aims to create the National Electoral Commission (NEC) that will be responsible for supervising elections and referendums by 2024.

3. The long-awaited Church Building Law issued on Aug. 30, 2016, consists of 13 articles that regulates building and renovating churches in Egypt.

Cabinet approves law regulating unlicensed churches

CAIRO - 18 April 2018: The Cabinet approved legislation proposed by its committee for legalizing unlicensed churches and services buildings on Wednesday. The legislation is set to legalize 166 churches and buildings across the nation.




4. The Civil Service Law helps the administrative body of the state to organize work within it as well as regulating the wages and salaries of workers in the state.

Parliament approves allowance law for government employees

CAIRO - 10 May 2017: The final draft of a special allowance law for employees who are not included in the state civil service law was approved by a majority at parliament on Wednesday. The new allowance law will be sent to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to be signed and published in the Official Gazette.




5. Anti-Terrorism Laws were approved in July 2017. The draft law was passed after amendments were introduced to the Criminal Procedure Laws, to procedures of appealing before the Court of Cassation, to legal procedures concerning terrorist entities and terrorism-related crimes, and to the Emergency and Anti-Terrorism law.
