Parliament speaker Abdel-Aal emphasizes strong Egypt-UAE ties

CAIRO – 2 May 2018: UAE’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received Wednesday the High-level Consultative Group to Counter Terrorism and Extremism of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).


The reception included Ali Abdel-Aal, Speaker of Egypt's House of Representatives and Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC).


According to an official statement, Sheikh Nahyan welcomed the delegation and discussed with them the latest developments in the international arena.


He also stressed the importance of international cooperation to fight extremist thoughts and terrorist groups and take comprehensive and effective measures to combat and address them immediately.


For his part, Abdel-Aal emphasized the strong relations and bonds between the UAE and Egypt while lauding the efforts exerted by the UAE to spread the culture of tolerance and acceptance of the other and renounce violence, extremism, and terrorist ideologies and combat intellectual extremism in all its forms.


Among those who attended the meeting were Wael Al Sayed Mohammed Gad, Ambassador of Egypt to the UAE, Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the FNC, and other FNC members, Emirates News Agency reported.
