CAIRO – 26 March 2018: In every public election, Mostafa Youssri Abou Emeira School in Heliopolis, previously known as Heliopolis Model School for Girls, hosts the Egyptian head of state while casting their ballots.

On Monday, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi cast his vote in the 2018 presidential election at the school, which is adjacent to the presidential palace of Ittihadyia, Cairo.

The school was previously a royal palace for Princess Ferial of Egypt, King Farouk’s eldest child.

It was inaugurated in 1940 and named after Prince Ahmed Hanafi, general director of the technical department of the Ministry of Education. The school's name changed to Heliopolis Model School following the 1952 Revolution.

After the dispersal of the Rabaa sit-in on August 14, 2013, the school was named after the martyr Mostafa Youssri Abou Emeira, who sacrificed his life on that day to maintain Egypt's stability and safety.

It includes 28 classes with more than 1,000 preparatory students and 27 classes with more than 1,000 secondary students, according to a previous statement by Ahmed Hanafi, Technical Department General Director of the Ministry of Education.

In 2014 presidential election, former interim President Adely MAnsour cast his ballot. Former President Mohamed Morsi cast his ballot in the school in 2012 constitutional referendum,

Also, former President Hosni Mubarak cast his ballot in 2010 parliamentary elections at the school.
