CAIRO –16 March 2018: Voting stations in Egyptian embassies worldwide witnessed a high turnout during the first day of the presidential election for expatriates overseas.
The voting process kicked off on Friday and is scheduled to last for three days. The election is being held at 139 consulates and embassies representing 124 countries from Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March 18.

NEA press conference outcomes:
Egyptian embassies abroad are witnessing a huge turnout from each respective Egyptian community, NEA spokesperson Mahmoud el Sherif said.
He stated that the voting process is currently taking place in 118 countries, adding that the NEA has provided the polling stations abroad with additional laptops due to the huge turnout.
The percentage of the voter turnout will be announced by the end of the electoral process abroad, he said, adding, “Voter turnout was recorded the highest in Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah.”
Ambassadors hailing huge turnout:
The Egyptian embassy in New Zealand was the first to open to the electorate, given an 11-hour time difference with Cairo.
In Algeria, Egyptian voter braved heavy rains and queued in front of the embassy to cast their ballots, Egyptian ambassador to Algeria Amr Abu Aish said.
"Egyptian Ambassador to France Ehab Badawi has arrived early morning on Friday at the embassy in Paris to double-check the preparations for the electoral process," official sources at the Egyptian embassy in Paris revealed to Egypt Today.

In Beirut, Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Nazih al-Najjari stated on a telephone call with CBC Extra News channel that Friday is a normal working day in Beirut; therefore, the embassy expects that there will be an increase of the number of voters after the working day.
Egypt’s ambassador to Sudan, Osama Shaltot, stated that the embassy of Egypt in Khartoum opened its door for Egyptian expats early Friday after finishing all technical and logistical preparations for the voting process. Moreover, they provided the voters with all facilities to ease the voting process.
Hotline numbers launched for complaints:
The Ministry of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs has provided hotline numbers to receive any complaints from expatriates during the three-day voting process in the presidential election.
According to the statement, the numbers are: 01289850655, 01008113352, 01553486360 and 01128856655. It also provided an email for receiving complaints: Egyptiansabroad@emigration.gov.e.
