Grand Mufti corrects misleading concepts at Police Academy

Tue, Nov. 28, 2017
CAIRO – 28 November 2017: The Interior Ministry organized an instructive symposium at the Police Academy in Cairo’s Abbasiya district on Tuesday addressing the security personnel, to correct misleading concepts about Islam within the new policy adopted by Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar.

Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawki Allam headed the symposium — entitled “importance of the Prophet’s biography in boosting loyalty and belonging to homeland” — according to a statement by the Interior Ministry Tuesday.

The statement added that “more symposiums will be organized to illustrate and correct misunderstood concepts about Islam, which hardliners have used to brainwash ignorant people in the name of the religion.”

Many senior and junior officers attended the symposium, the statement read.
The attendees held a moment’s silence to mourn the victims of the Al-Rawdah Mosque terror attack, which took place last Friday.

“Islam promotes principles of tolerance and peace… on the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday, we should be inspired by his patience and hope to achieve a better future for our beloved homeland,” Allam stressed during his speech in the symposium.
